Things I'll miss

On Sunday night i was laying in bed in MI...when suddenly i started to think about some of the small things i'll miss about the US (and some things i'm not really looking forward to about k-town). I panicked a little.

this year i've been looking forward to going back to india, anticipating it...remembering the good parts, and just not really thinking at all about the hard parts...but then i started to think about the whole package, which was probably good to think about it a bit before i waltzed over here and ended up being really (unpleasantly) surprised by some of the things i hadn't been thinking of.

so, here are some things i'll miss about home:
Hot showers (from a shower-head, not a bucket)
My bed
Baked goods
Salad
A washing machine
Nature
Quite
Space (as in...open space, not being in a mega-city)
Personal space
Organized lines
Smiling in public (this always takes some adjusting for me...i'm just a small town midwestern girl through and through...but i gotta same my smiles for people i know, and women and children here)

also, as an aside, something bit me on my flight from delhi to kolkata (at least, that's when i noticed it). i have a huge bug bite (about the size of a silver dollar!). its a bit creepy...

Mel,
I love that I can hear your voice in these things. I love you and miss you already. Praying for you, friend!
