Thursday

Thursday was a big day around here. 2 holidays in one day.

It was Eid, the end of Ramadan for those of Muslim faith. Its been interesting the past month to observe from afar the discipline of the Muslim community. The Mosque has had lights on it, and its been really pretty. On Thursday i loved seeing everyone dressed in their best - and there was just something beautiful about knowing that their fast was over, and it was a day of communal celebration.

It was also Ghandi's birthday. In celebration we decided to go down to a Ghandi Museum yesterday. It was really informative. I enjoyed the time hanging out with other interns, and learning more about Ghandi. After the museum we went down to a popular beach. that was fun too. Today i bought the abridged version of Ghandi's Autobiography. I figured it was a good start - that i'd be able to get a nice surface course in Ghandi, but not have to think too hard.

There's a festival going on. There's a game with sticks and dancing - Dandiya. Tonight Steph, Sunita and I are going to get all dressed up (another part of the festival, you wear your nicest clothes) and go play this game!
