Celebration!

This is a culture that knows how to celebrate. I mean, literally we are in the middle of a NINE day festival where people get dressed up dance for 2-3 hrs every night! And after this there's another 4ish day festival coming up. And on my way home from work today i passed a marching band. I think they'd been hired for a wedding - the car was covered in flowers. i love this aspect of living here.

I had so much fun last night. it was amazing thousands of people dancing for hours - men, women, young, old - it was like stepping into a bollywood film. Whenever i watch an american movie and there's a choreographed dance in the middle i think its funny/weird (as if everyone at the prom just spontaneously starts dancing) - but here it was really like that. everyone just knew the steps. Thousands of people - there really aren't words to describe the atmostphere, energy and joy. I had so much fun figuring out the steps and joining in. And there were some really helpful and nice people who helped teach the steps too...Oh, there weren't any stick though, and that was a little disappointing. i am so glad i got to experience it.

yeah celebration!
