Yesterday was my last day at the bank. my roommate asked me if i was excited about it and i said no. i've really enjoyed working at Flagstar this fall. I've loved my department...the work has been good too. but mostly i've really loved the relationships that i formed there.
On tuesday my department surprised me with pizza for lunch and a cake (decorated with "The Office" picture and quotes) - and as if that wasn't enough they gave me a huge and incredible care package...with stuff for my long flight (a magazine and a book of Sudoku) - and hand san....and starbucks coffee - and a journal that they all wrote in...and a picture that they took of all of them (while i was sitting in my cubie...apparently i'm not very observant - and quite easy to surprise) plus even more great stuff. I had NO idea that any of that was planned - and it made me feel so loved and appreciated.
I think the fact that i'm done working will make my upcoming adventure all the more real. See, for the most part it just doesn't seem real that i'm leaving the country for a year. Since making that decision verything has continued as normal - except every once in awhile i'd have to work on a something that needed to be done. Now that i'm not working any more - i'll be able to focus on the long list of things that i need to do...buy a plane ticket, get my visa pictures taken - so i can get my visa, make those prayer cards that i've been meaning to work on, cleaning, sorting and packing up my house...and maybe spend more time with my "teach yourself" language book. AND...i'll have more time to spend with people that i won't be seeing much of for awhile...
for now, i'm trying really hard not to let my last minute trip to Meijer completely kill my Christmas spirit (angela just called me a grinch and told me to sit by the Christmas tree unil i was in a better mood - or at the very least to keep my mouth shut so i don't rub off on her)...my sister, bro in law and nieces will be here soon...that ought to help.
