un-birthday

my birthday is at the beginning of January.

...this is not incredibly conducive to living internationally...
...this was my third birthday living in Kolkata...and it was the third year in a row when some of my good friends were going to be out of town over my birthday (cause of Christmas travels)

but this year i decided that i wasn't gonna have it.

i was turning 35...and i just simply refused to have my birthday without Beth and Sarah...

my actual birthday was a great day. i had a celebration at 2 Sari Bari units, and had a nice quite evening with Brooke and Sera....but i wanted to save my party for when all the party-people were back in town. i mean, how often do you turn 35? (well...in my case twice...)

it was a great choice!

last weekend we had my 35th un-birthday party.

in typical community-party style there was great food...and incredible dessert...and dancing...and an all around fun evening with lots of great folks.

i was celebrated so well. it's a gift to be celebrated like that!

oh..and red plastic solo cups...it's amazing how much red plastic cups can make you feel normal...there's just something about little pieces of home like that! i LOVED it!
