L: from now on we’re going to call
you Sheila, and we’ll call her Moushumi.
M: oh, you want me to leave?
L: No, but “Moshumi” will just go to
America for a little vacation, and then she’ll come back, and this way Sheila
will stay with us too.

lose something
(a commentary on Sheila’s mixed
emotions…leaving Sari Bari, but getting to marry the man she loves)
Today one of the training ladies said
to me, “you told me yesterday that there was going to be lunch today cause
someone is getting married and going back to America. And after you told me
that I went home and I thought, “oh no, is she leaving” and I sat there eating
my rice worrying that you were going to go back to America. So when D got home,
I asked her, and she told me that you weren’t the one leaving. I was so
worried.”
Said during training: “I did a
worship service this morning. That’s why I’m doing so well today” (an explanation
as to why she was beating me so badly at memory)
Mo: Hey Moshumi, when is your wedding going to happen?
Me: I don’t know if it ever will.
Mo: don’t say that. God made a match
for everyone. He made a man and a woman, and they each have exactly what the
other one needs. At the right time he will bring them together. Just like He
did for me.
After giving a necklace to Sheila, “Wear it all the time. If
your husband tells you to take it off, tell him no.”
