It's the little things

today was much "better" than yesterday.

almost all the success that eluded me yesterday was just waiting for today!

the water-pump is installed and working (YEAH! we have water...and managed to avoid ever being water-less!)

the "electric-mistri" (electrican/water pump fixer/the guys with the drills...if you ever need something drilled, call the electric mistri) came to our house. i made an appointment with him a few days ago (before the water pump situation) to have some work done in the flat...and then once they were here, we thought of even more work for them to do.

here are a few of the "little things" that made today so great...

Pay no attention to three filthy switches on the right...the one we care about is the gleeming bright white on on the left. its the bathroom light...which before today looked like the others, but was in worse shape. you could see sparks everytime you turned in on (which led to some small fear of getting shocked) - but really the problem was that the light didn't stay on all the time, so you might find yourself in the shower at night...and suddenly also in the dark. no more. bathroom light = fixed!

those white squares that seem out of place on this black electric panel...they the new switch and outlet in the kitchen. they worked fine until about a week ago, when suddenly it became very picky and didn't work half the time, and when it did work, you sometimes had to hold it in the whole time. not a great scenario. outlet in the kitchen = fixed

bonus: the outlet in the living room that was broken leading to an extension cord running through the living room = fixed.
extenion cord = unnecessary and put away!

why am i so excited about this sink?! Because it's attached to the wall! i know, you thought all sinks were attached to the walls but this one wasn't. it has supports beneath it that bear the weight, but would slide away from the wall and you'd have to shove it back into place. it was annoying. this was one of my brain storms when i saw the drill, asked if they could do it...they checked it out and they could...sink = attached to the wall!

and this little treasure...well, it's a victory in the making. its a "rat kill cake." according to the package it "kills in one feed" and "most rats die outdoors" it cost about 20 cents. worth it to me. hope our rat dies outdoors...although i think i'd prefer a dead rat indoors to a live one...

I'm glad your day was better. You should make the bottom picture your Facebook profile pic! Ha.

Let us know how the rat war goes. I once had a similar problem with mice.

Peace on your weekend,
Matt
