I'm staying with my sister, and she's in physical therapy school. yesterday i was running out of the house - running late (as seems to happen more often than i wish it did) and down waiting on the lawn in my sister in a wheel chair. of course i responded with, "what happened!?!?"
class assignment. everyone in her class had to be in a wheel chair for 24 hrs so they could better relate to their future clients, and to practice some of the techniques they'll be teaching future clients.
not the best timing if you ask me (remember i was already running late). so we dash around the corner (my car is parked far away cause i couldn't find a spot close by), the dog is running like mad, pulling my sister in the chair...then we come to the downhill section where i'm trying really hard not to loose control of my sister in the wheelchair with the dog pulling as hard as she can running down hill. somehow we manage to hold it together, get the dog and my sister into the car...then comes my wrestling match with the wheelchair and the trunk. i won...finally, but it did take an effort. that thing was heavy, and not very compact!
we were a bit of a train wreck the whole time we had it. running into corners occasionally, the wheel getting jammed and the chair refusing to move backwards, dragging it up the stairs...what an adventure/disaster.
it was a bit entertaining to me...but i'm glad it only lasted 24 hrs!

ha ha ha ha. I broke my leg in January and now I am still in a wheelchair with an 8 month old baby. wwoooo hoooo. lots of fun. ha ha ha. and it does give you such a better understanding as to what these people go through on a normal basis. and I have seen many a friend struggle with my wheelchair. I would like to know her findings on that experiment...
