Today Sunita, Esther (a new-ish intern) and I ran the I-Sanctuary booth at a Charity sale event at the local Marriott Hotel. The sale was arranged by the American Women's Club.
It was a great success. We sold a lot of product, and we had a good time. The three of us were up late last night working on packaging the jewelry (because of printing problems we couldn't have the girls do it as they went)...and then we were up early for our big day. Some of the girls who made the jewelry were able to come. It was so cool that they could see their hard work pay off and to see people so excited about the jewelry and other items they'd made. It was also a nice change of scenery/pace to spend the day in a 5 star hotel :)
I am totally exhausted right now, but i'm also full. I love I-Sanctuary. I love that girls are learning a skill. I love that they have fun doing it. I love that the girls could take pride in their work today. I love that they have savings accounts where the money they earn from the sale of products is kept for them, and for their future. I'm thankful that i can be a part of the work that Steph and others are doing. Check out www.isanctuary.org to buy in the US. Stephanie has just arrived in the US with some AMAZING stuff that the girls have made. Really, its beautiful...that's why in addition to helping to sell the jewelry...i also contributed by purchasing!

I went to the I-Sanctuary site - the jewelry the girls are making is lovely. I'm so glad the girls enjoyed spending the day at the sale - what a wonderful experience for them and for you,
Mom
