I just got off the phone with my parents (i love skype!) and my mom said, "wow, you sound really peppy today" and i told her that i was having a great Sunday. Its been a good day of rest. a good weekend.
It's rained most of the weekend. off and on all day yesterday and today. Its like living in a whole different place in ways. everything looks different. you plan differently. and then there's the fact that it didn't rain a single drop for 4 months and now its all rain all the time. But i've been enjoying it. its been refreshing. The temp has dropped quite a bit and its really comfortable. In some ways it feels like a fall weekend. the rain, its cooler (although its still about 80, it just feels cool to me!) i even had a nice cup of hot chocolate while i was relaxing with the rain!
I got up and when to church this morning and it was so good. I heard a sermon once talking Rob Bell) about why we sing - and he said that part of why we sing at church is cause it puts great words on our lips. declaring truth that i may not feel, or i may not think to express at this given moment - but through hymns and choruses i'm able to voice deep truths that i need to voice, and at times that i need to be reminded of. That's how i felt this morning worshiping. All this truth that my spirit got to affirm - and that was an encouragement to me.
After church i went to the coffee shop by the sea. i haven't been in over a month cause of being sick and other commitments on sundays. It was good to be back. I sat under a ledge, where i stayed mostly dry (it started to rain again just after i got there). The water was rougher than its been in the past - and it was a totally different scene with the overcast sky and the big waves and the rain. I loved it. It was good to be. To listen to a sermon. and music. to journal, and to study for a bit. I just sat and sat and drank up the beauty of the moment.
On a totally different note - My big winner moment for yesterday was when i was coming back from my friend's flat with my clean laundry (i don't have a washer, they do). I was in the elevator and it stopped and a lady got in. When we got to the ground floor she offered me a ride. she had a car. so i didn't have to carry my laundry home in the rain...it was a beautiful moment!
