I have some good news - but its from last year. I have some friends from the Gach...i thought i'd blogged about them, but i didn't (i just breezed through the archives and couldn't find anything). Its a long complicated story, that i think i probably decided not to blog about because it was a hard situation and it made me angry, and confused at a lot of different levels...but i looked though my newsletters, and found what i'd shared...here it is...(to give you a quick background).
"I continue to visit women in “The Gach” and enjoy my time with them. We are praying for transformation in that community, and in the lives of our friends. We have been investing a lot of time making a way for two of our friends, (brothers, age 5 and 6) to go to a Christian boarding school. They call me “Mushumi Lebu” (Lime juice) and I call them, “Apel” and “Biral.” The details are in line for the boys to start school as early as July. However, in the process of all the doctor appointments and check-ups, we discovered that their mom, Pryia, and younger sister (age 2) “G” are both HIV positive. The news is devastating to us. We continue to work on behalf Pryia and “g” to secure medical treatment. As impossible as it seems humanly, we are praying for their healing. We are praying for a hope, and a future, and freedom. We are also praying that Pyria will begin work at Freeset, and that her husband will be supportive of positive change in his family (he has been quite a stumbling block thus far)."
At the time i left Kolkata, slots had been secured for Apel and Biral at the Christian Boarding school in Kolkata, but it was going to take time, and there were some hoops to jump through before they could go. Temporarily they went to a boarding school very far outside the city. This made it really hard for their mom to see them...and for the WMF girls to visit them. BUT...i just heard this week that they've been moved to the boarding school in Kolktata. Its a home and school sponsored by the Assemblies of God church...
I'm thrilled for the hope that now marks the futures of Apel and Biral. I love that they'll receive a good education. I love that they'll be nurtured, and receive loving discipline. I love that they don't have to be afraid anymore. Oh...i see such possibilities for those little guys - and now...well, its all becoming a little more real...less of a dream...that hope is taking shape. my heart is doing a nice little celebration jig every time i think of it!
Its been a long hard journey walking with this family...and not all the news has been good over the past year. Their mom, still has not started working at Freeset, but the WMF girls have continued to walk with her too...
