A trek pt 2

This monkey tried to steal our cookies...bad monkey! They're quite aggressive when it comes to food - and they recognize the wrappers!
Catherine, Lillia and me

not a bad view, huh?

The weekend trek was good. i mean, getting up at 3:50 is just about as horrible as you'd imagine (what else could it be but horrible?!). The trip was good though...I really enjoyed getting to know the others in the group. It was good to hear their stories - where they work, about their families how they came to follow Jesus...it was good. It was an encouragement to my heart to be in conversation with some new folks about their journey of following Jesus. The conversation as we rode the train, and then hiked was just good. And it was also good to share my heart some. It was good to be able to share parts of my journey - and part of who i am...to joke around, and play, and work hard, and then to share a good meal together. While my body was exhausted - it was really good for my heart.

The trek itself was not the best case scenario. We were going to this place that's somewhat touristy, and our group leader knew of a way to hike there, but then he asked people on the train just to be sure...and forgot to mention that we wanted to hike, so they gave us driving directions. So, we ended up hiking in the woods for an hour or so, and then the rest of the time we were walking on the road. It wasn't a very busy road though, so that was nicer...

Once we reached the place it was nice. there are no motor vehicles allowed...so it was just quite - and that in and of itself was good. There were horses you could ride...we walked in the woods, i could hear bird (not crows or pigeons) singing...it was just so peaceful.

There were definitely moments where i wasn't sure if i really wanted to go on this trek - but all in all i'm so thankful that i did. I had some time of solitude (which i need) and some time getting to know people here (which i need). It was even worth waking up at 3:50 am!

Also, i've decided that monkeys are just like dogs and cats...the babies are much cuter than the adults...just in case you were wondering about my official position on monkeys.
