a great day

yesterday was a great day, an incredible day. i just didn't know about it yet when i blogged! yesterday, kristen and kiran took 2 people to freeset, and 2 people to depika (an NGO that Sari Bari has a subcontract with)....incredible...now for some details..

Asha went to Freeset yesterday, and she loved it. Kristen is supposed to meet her again on Monday and take her back, theoretically to start working. At this point, it will depend on if her mom "allows" her to stop working in the trade. Please be in prayer for Asha's eyes to remain open, and that her mom will have an open soft heart. Interestingly, when Asha got back to the brothel she told all the other girls, "Its true. everything they said was true. There is a place for your children to be watched, and the women really work sewing." I tend to take for granted that what we say is true. of course its true - but so many of these women have been tricked before, and they cannot imagine that someone would really offer them a good job - so they doubt what we say. Last night my heart was just dancing that Asha is so willing to work...now if only her mom....

The other family that went to freeset is a family that WMF has known for years. they'll often agree to do things with the girls, and then back out at the last minute (this is actually really common here). they've said that they'll go to freeset a number of times, and never have - but yesterday was the day! The family is very involved in the sex trade, but no one is "working the line" so a committee is going to meet to determine if the girl will be able to work there. please be in prayer that the door will be open and that the guardian/mother will allow her to work.

so last night - 2 "impossibles" happened here in Kolkata...and we were all pretty excited...i felt like i was just floating along down the sidewalk!
