just down the hall a plumber is fixing my broken sink.
it started dripping a couple weeks before i left for the states.
and then it got worse.
and has been completely broken since i've been home.
the faucet in our bathroom drips.
it has dripped for years.
but the drip is speeding up.
...and i've learned (or i'm learning) that ignoring problems like that just leads to a crisis (like our whole "moss in the water" crisis from the spring when we realized that our tank cover had been off for a long time, and there was nasty moss in our tank...and our pipes were clogged, and then we didn't have any water at all, and we had to call a plumber, and we almost didn't get to have Sheila's wedding shopping celebration day).
so as long as the plumber is here, he's gonna fix that too.
and i think he's ripping me off.
and i don't care.
i should. i know.
often i do.
usually i do.
but today i'm all out of principle.
today, i just want my sink to work...
so i can brush my teeth w/o scheduling conflicts in the bathroom.
so i don't care if he charges me too much.
i just want my sink to work again.
(this is like when the stove guy came and fixed my stove after one of the burners was broken for about 9 months and he fixed it in about 5 minutes and charged me way too much for 5 minutes of work...but i didn't care. i was just excited to have 2 working burners again...)
and the electrician is going to come later too...and fix the broken outlet in my kitchen...and in the same way...i'll just be glad that both outlets work again and i can stop trying to remember to plug my fridge back in after i use the oven.
it's BK Paul home improvement day.
and i'll celebrate...and be glad that things are working again...
...until the next thing breaks. it's just a matter of time.
