one of the joys of leading the servant team is book discussion/disturbing movie day. every wednesday we meet and either discuss one of the books they've been assigned to read, or watch a movie and discuss it.
the books they're reading are all books i've read before, either on my Servant Team, or in the time since i've been on staff with WMF. they're good books. they are challenging.
they kind of rip my face off. they stir my soul. they make me ask hard questions.
it is so good...and so hard.
the past few weeks we've been discussing "Rich Christians in the Age of hunger" and the discussions are beautiful and challenging, and have my mind spinning. a few weeks before that we read and discussed, "Poverty" by Ranerio Cantalamessa (amazing)...
i'm so thankful for the opportunity to walk with the team and to learn with them. it's humbling. and beautiful...
in other new (random change of subject)...this week is Kyle's last week at Sari Bari. And the beginning of lots of different parties to celebrate him and to send him off well.
I'm thankful for this weekend (which in some ways feels like the calm before the storm). I don't have any responsibilities, or things i need to do, or places i need to be this weekend. I'm resting. and enjoying. we're going to decorate our house for Christmas. tomorrow we'll take time as a family to sit together and wait in Advent season...
...and then comes the storm. 3 going away parties in 3 days...one at each of the SB units. It is going to be so emotionally draining. it will be beautiful...i'm excited to celebrate my brother Kyle, his presence, his faithfulness, his service, his sacrifice, and the place he holds in each of our hearts. it will also be hard (but let's just be honest, it would be hard even if we didn't have the parties...). I know the women of Sari Bari feel sad and are grieving, and this is all just part of the deal. we will celebrate "our kyle" and we will grieve this transition with him...and we will send him out the best way we can into this new beginning.
all that to say...i, we, covet your prayers this week...Wednesday, Thursday and Friday...
