Things to do on your last day in America…
Breakfast on the deck with good friends
Laundry
Make last minute calls
Chili cheese nachos from frosty boy (on the deck, of course) for lunch
Pack (this is not a fun process…that involves lots of trips to the scale, and tough decisions about what goes with you and what doesn’t. and as it turns out is also a good exercise in open-handedness. couldn’t have done it without Merilee’s help!)
Go for a walk and swing (cause you’ve hit a wall in the packing front and need some space)
Pack some more
Play Frisbee in the back yard
Play a game
Eat sweet corn (on the deck)
Enjoy the quite.
Play another game
Enjoy the quite.
Breath in the green.
Enjoy the clean air.
Walk barefoot in the grass.
Laugh with your family.
I want to live in India. It is my home. It is good and beautiful, and where I want to be and live and work. None of this makes the leaving easier. I’ve been thinking recently how I’m excited and ready to be back in Kolkata. Excited to see friends. To be back home. But its still hard. I’m aware that along with the joy of relationships and people I care about deeply I’m also going back to loud, dirty, sometimes overwhelming Kolkata. I’m trying to remember that too….hoping it will make the transition easier.

I loved coming back after two years of living here from a visit to US and to see how much I had learnt. The coming and going has gotten easier for me. keep it up Mel!
