i've been pretty sick since Sunday. i woke up feeling horrible - and ended up sleeping til 5:30pm! i went to Sari Bari for a few hours on Monday, before i started feeling much much worse. Monday night's treat was a high fever. yesterday - fever and diarrhea (sheila thinks i should tell you that today my poop is bright green from all the purple gatorade i drank yesterday trying to stay hydrated...but i think that's a little too much information!). today i'm feeling better - still a low grade fever - and did a "stool culture" to find out what was up.
i have high hopes of leaving the flat tomorrow. i want to go to sari bari. i want to pick up the beautiful sari that i bought for gita's wedding (that is on Friday). i want to help decorate for Gita's wedding. I want to go with her to the salon and do Mendi. i want to be done with the fever - low, high, either way, i'm ready to be done. and i'm really ready to be done with the stomach cramping.
being sick is hard wherever you are...but i think being sick in a different culture is especially hard.
anyway, here's hoping that the anti-biotics i started today will do the trick and i'll feel good (enough) tomorrow.
it's a big weekend ahead...Gita is getting married! (oh my word...so exciting!)
and then on Sunday, me, sheila, beth and sarah leave for a retreat in Goa, India. i'm really looking forward to it. really looking forward to time to rest, and worship...and be out of the city. the retreat is put on by "Women of Compassion" a group in the US...and here is a link to a blog they'll be updating throughout the retreat - if you care to look. we leave on Sunday and arrive back on Wendesday. i don't think there are quite words to describe how excited i am to leave the city!!!! wooo-hooooo!!!!
