when i started learning Bengali in February noticed the difference between learning and remembering. either way, when you hear a word you have no idea what it means...but it sure is faster and easier to remember something than to learn it in the first place.
i was reminded of this today. a trip to the market for some food gave me the wake-up call that i definitely needed to review Bengali numbers (considering that i didn't understand my total at either of the places i bought from...it was an obvious conclusion!)
when i got home i went through my number flashcards...and got about half of them wrong (not encouraging)...but by the second time through i improved remarkably...and by the third time through i was golden! it took me a lot longer to learn those numbers in the first place...glad i just have to remember them now!
i've got a lot of Bengali to remember...and my brain was definitely struggling that last half hour of study time...gotta get my brain whipped back into Bengali-learning-shape. i'm not too worried though. i've got plenty of time, and i'm excited to keep learning!
