About 3 or 4 months ago I had an unfortunate incident with my flat-iron. The heat surged and burned off a 1 inch section of hair right by the root. Its gotten increasingly awkward and the past month of so I have quite an “alf-alfa” sprout, well, right where Alf-alfa did. Its always worse the day I wash my hair…it stands straight up. I mean, I try to part my hair to make it lay down, but some days there’s really nothing I can do.
So today in language class my teacher mentioned that I have a hair sticking up in the back of my head, and wondered if it was a new fashion in the US. I told her that no, it wasn’t fashion, but that I’d had an accident. She told me that she thought it was a new fashion, and that she’d even told her family about this new American fashion. She says it looks really nice. So who knows, maybe this is my chance to be a trend setter and if not, well, I’ll at least get a good chuckle out of it!

hilarious. well, you were one of two american representatives at the olympics. so, maybe your teacher isn't the only one thinking it...
Lem - you're always "fashion forward," on the "cutting" (burning?) edge of what is in (or, in this case "up"!)
Love you!
can you PLEASE post a pic?!
