when i first arrived in Bombay in February of 08, i saw some really cute shoes. flats - covered in sequins. i wanted some....eventually. i wore flip-flops almost the entire time i was there - so i decided to buy these flats before i came back to the states. then i never wore them - i think cause i never wanted the blisters that i figured were inevitable. but today was the day. shoes i've had my eye on for a year and a half finally made their debut on my feet.
they lasted til about 10:30am. they hurt my arches so bad...and i wasn't even walking very much. (i thought that might be a problem...maybe another reason why i never wore them til now - there isn't a defined "left" and "right" shoe...as it turns out its more of a problem than i thought it would be). So, at 10:30 i got my "regular" shoes out and changed (at least i was prepared). no blisters...but really sore arches.
my sister Angela says, "beauty is pain...so get used to it" - but i'm not buying it. i like those shoes...but not enough to have my feet feel like this after 2 1/2 hrs of wear...bummer.
my other adventure for the day was a broken photo-copier. doesn't seem like it would be a big deal...but it was. it just got everyone a bit out of balance, we had a couple "emergency photocopy runs" that i had to make across campus, and detailed plans for how i was going to get copies of other stuff that i needed sooner rather than later. and the crazy thing is the machine was fixed by 2:00 - but it sure did throw a wrench in my day! technology...it helps so much...and then it breaks and we all go crazy.
oh, and i had to scrape my windshield today. this is one of my least favorite activities in the world. i like it less than folding socks, and washing silverware...and that's saying a lot!

so glad you were prepared with other shoes.
in case it makes you feel better, this year's first frost was later than last year's. I think i will be enjoying my new carport parking space:)
EG
i similarly despise scraping the frost off my car. what a wretched chore. lord, send me back to southern california for this reason alone!
