The Big Night
Picassa only worked for one round of uploads, so you can check out more pics at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=39898&l=4e165&id=574368454
you don't have to have a facebook account to view the pics, just click the link.
i haven't gotten the final word on if video worked, but i hope you're amused by the pics :)
So i went for a quick appointment with a doctor who told me i had a viral infection...so there's nothing to do but wait (which is why i hate going to the doctor - although here it costs a whole lot less money, which is nice). So i took some tylenol, and got some halls...and headed off to the dance show.
The night was hilarious. it was a full blown beauty pageant (which anyone could guess is not my favorite thing in the world for lots of reasons...). And then there was the dance competition too (but there were only 2 groups entered). We sat and waited...got our make up done (and they drew a mole on my face!)...and then it was time for the dance. It was really fun...and in the end we won...which was fun. We all got $125 in credit to the gym (to extend our memberships) which would be great...but i already purchased a membership for the whole year (cause its cheaper that way)...so now i'm scheming to see if i can sell my gym credit to someone who's really gonna extend their membership and get cash...i mean, i did this thing for fun...i had no idea there were prizes...but if i can get some cash out of it...even better!
There were some highlights from the evening that i really have to mention. First was when the male contestants came on stage for the first time without shirts and wearing black billowy pants...it was hilarious. Then...when they were introducing the judges, apparently one of them was a famous body builder...so they made him take his shirt off and flex for everyone...and again, i laughed out loud. The "awards" part of the evening was hilarious too...they were handing out huge containers of protein shake powder to the winners (i mean, i know its valuable and all but still it was funny..."congrats Mr. Six-pack, here's some protein powder...now go pose at the end of the catwalk") - well, i guess the award categories were funny too.
i will say that it seems the most important element in any dance costume is sequins...and lots of them. At one point in the evening when i was all decked out in my red sequin shirt and shimmery silver pants, with an inch of make-up smeared on my face and my fake mole another dancer saw me and said, "looking good" which also made me laugh :)
