my internet expired on thursday, and it didn't make much sense to renew it since i knew i was moving this friday. surely a girl can live without the internet for a week!
Sunday was Lillia's birthday. We all went to church together (all the expats) and then out to lunch. it was great to all be together...good food...good dessert...good time.
Monday Stephanie left. I'm not gonna lie...it was sad. it will be really weird living here without her.
I've been working on getting things ready to move into the new flat. i had screens made for the windows (cause nobody wants to live with mosquitoes). and today i met with the Internet guy, so i should have Internet working early next week. Friday afternoon is the big "shift"
yesterday there was a rickshaw strike. The rickshaw drivers are ticked off cause there has been a law passed that they have to get electronic meters. they don't want to do that cause they're expensive...and they don't know how to tamper with them yet, so we'd all get fair rates (i heard...can't quote the source though...that 90% of the meters on rickshaws had been tampered with). So yesterday no rickshaws worked. It was crazy. Buses were packed, taxis were charging really high rates. I was supposed to go to dance class...but its hard to do that when public transportation is crippled like that....i don't care about dance class enough to squeeze myself on a bus that is that crowded during rush hour...and i wasn't about to pay for taxi fare all the way there.
Lillia isn't moving with me to the new flat. she's going to move in with the other interns (back to the flat she lived in for the first 5 months she lived here). It will be really different to live here alone. It looks like i'll be living alone for about a month, and then there's a really good chance my friend Sunita will be moving in with me until stephanie comes back. I'm excited to live with Sunita. i think it will be really good - that we can both learn from one another...but also that it will be hard for both of us at times. We'll see how it all pans out.
so that's the whirlwind update!

Change seems to be the norm...isn't that some type of oxy-moron...or is it just me. Yup, I'm a moron. Proud of you my friend.
