"Martha"

There is a little old lady at Prem Don named Martha...and i love her. she's the one who's shared her snacks with me in the past. I like to just check in with her and see how she's doing. sometimes she says she's doing fine, other times she says she's in pain, or has had a fever, or whatever. Sometimes i pick the fish off the bone for her at lunch, or give her a massage, or just sit together. I just really enjoy my time with Martha.

today i brought a picture of me in my sari to show some of my friends at prem don. when i showed her the picture she said it was so beautiful...then she said, "Bengali, Bengali, my auntie is Bengali" (they refer to all the volunteers as "auntie") and then she kissed the picture. It was so sweet. Foreigners really don't ever wear saris, so it's a pretty big deal for them to see a traveller in a sari - and they seem to love it.

Martha also told me today that boyfriends are bad, and its good that i don't have one. She also said there were no good men out there...it was really funny to me :) (don't worry, i don't believe her).

we've been getting a lot of rain - which isn't normal for this time of year, but is more than welcome! when it rains, it cools down...but by cool down, i mean 90s! i love the rain - even when i'm caught out in it...i love walking in the rain!
